Un pentagrama circular y vacío se ha superpuesto a una imagen del sistema solar. Ahí donde había un planeta se asignó una nota. De la partitura resultante se construyó una caja de música.
La teoría de la Armonía de las Esferas tiene su origen en Pitágoras, quien aseguraba que el cosmos estaba matemáticamente ordenado, y el movimiento de los cuerpos celestes así como la distancia entre ellos, se regía por proporciones musicales. Los sonidos resultantes eran incapturables para el oído humano en estado ordinario. Así mismo, la armonía del cuerpo y la del cosmos “eran” parte de un todo interrelacionado.
Muchos textos religiosos coinciden en que el sonido existió primero que todo, antes que la luz y la materia. Por eso en esta pieza el uso del sonido es como una manera de regresar a esa esencia descartada de nosotros mismos, de nuestro ser más profundo que está unido al universo. ¿Y no sería el Silencio algo incluso anterior al Sonido? Es en el intersticio entre ambos que reside el sentido de la obra.

The theory of the Harmony of the Spheres has its origins in Pythagoras, who was certain that the cosmos was mathematically organized and that the movements of the celestial bodies, as well as the distance between them, were ruled by musical proportions. The resultant sounds were inaudible to the human ear under ordinary circumstances. The body’s harmony and the harmony of the cosmos “were” part of an intermingled Whole.
Many religious texts agree that sound existed before anything else in the world, before light and matter. That’s why this piece is silent as a way of returning to that discarded essence of us all, our most profound being that is linked to the Universe. And shouldn’t Silence exist even before Sound? The sense of the work lies in the interstice between them.
