Fotografías de chicles adheridos a las aceras han sido intervenidas con lápiz para convertirlos en constelaciones.
El cosmos constituye uno de los ejes recurrentes en la obra de la artista. Desde 2003 comenzó a emplear el chicle como recurso para la creación de dibujos. En Estrellas masticadas confluyen ambos elementos: el cosmos, como representación de lo sublime, de la fuente de la que emergemos y el chicle masticado, símbolo de lo desechado y del instante perdido. La transfiguración de un residuo en algo sublime le permite a la creadora subrayar nuestra cercanía con el Universo y ofrecer, a su vez, una interpretación visual de la frase: “vive como si el cielo estuviese en la tierra”.
Al mismo tiempo, el chicle masticado conserva el ADN de quien lo arrojó. De este modo, en estas constelaciones se entrelazan de manera sutil las huellas de diferentes personas, recordándonos que, de una u otra forma, todos estamos conectados.

The cosmos is one of the recurring themes in the artist’s work. Since 2003, she has used chewing gum as a medium for creating drawings. In Chewed Stars, these two elements converge: the cosmos, as a representation of the sublime, the source from which we emerge, and the chewed gum, as a symbol of what is discarded and of the fleeting moment. The transfiguration of waste into something sublime allows the artist to highlight our closeness to the Universe while also offering a visual interpretation of the phrase: “live as if heaven were on earth.”
At the same time, chewed gum preserves the DNA of the person who once discarded it. In this way, within these constellations, the traces of different individuals subtly intertwine, reminding us that, in one way or another, we are all connected.
